有機ELディスプレイ(OLED)とは
有機ELディスプレイとは
有機ELディスプレイとは、有機ELの仕組みを応用した薄型ディスプレイのことである。電気を流すと光る有機物質を利用しており、液晶やプラズマなどと並んで次世代のディスプレイ技術の一つとして注目されている。
有機ELディスプレイの特徴の一つには、薄型化が実現しやすいことが挙げられる。液晶では、発光のために裏側から光をあてるバックライトを配置する必要があり、そのバックライトの存在が薄型化を進める上で支障となる。一方、有機ELディスプレイでは、自ら光る物質を利用しているため、バックライトは不要で薄型化を図りやすい。消費電力や視野角、応答速度などの面でも、液晶と比べて有利とされる。

電子工作でディスプレイを使うときはLCDディスプレイというものを使うことが多いのですが、今回はグラフィックデザインを使ってみたくなったので買ってみました。
グラフィックディスプレイはLCDディスプレイよりも制御が難しいですが、ライブラリを使うことで簡単に扱うことができます。
ちなみにOLEDは「Organic Electro Luminescenence Display」の略称です。
手順
まず、ハード側からやっていきます。
以下の図のように配線します。
これでハード側は終了です。
次にグラフィックディスプレイのためのライブラリをインストールします。
今回使用するライブラリはAdafruit_SSD1306とAdafruit-GFX-Libraryです。
リンク先からダウンロードできるようになっているので各々ダウンロードをしてください。
ダウンロードの方法がわからない場合はこちらの記事を参考にして下さい。
次にコードを書いていきます。
Arduino IDEを起動して、次のコードを書き込んでください。

このコードは「ファイル」→「スケッチの例」→「Adafruit_SSD1306」→「ssd1306_128×64_i2c」を選択し、i2c通信のアドレスを0x3Dから0x3Cに変更したものです。
このコードを書き込んでOLEDを見るとアニメーションが始まっていることが確認できると思います。

今回は有機ELディスプレイというものを使ってみました。
扱いがLCDよりも難しいですがその分できることも多いので使い方を覚えているといいと思います。
